It’s been many months since I shared my first ambitious post. Thank God that a lot has changed since then… procrastination apparently is not one of them, as it relates to this blog. :/
So what has actually changed? Well I moved in May. My son and I like to say we “downsized but upgraded”. We moved from an older 2 bedroom to a brand new 1 bedroom. I cannot tell you how much I had missed the luxuries of a dishwasher and a bathtub these last 7 years. I have enjoyed this update more than I can say.
My Pomeranian Mandy, a loyal companion since 2006, died a month after we moved. She suddenly experienced heart failure. I don’t think she appreciated the move as much as we did. 🙁
My son got a kitten. Let me be clear: I am a dog person; BUT, I’m a mom first. My son does what he is supposed to – maintains honor roll and is generally good natured and well behaved. He is also obsessed with cats. “Shadow” was earned. I’m learning to deal. Some days I even think I am starting to like the critter.
I got a huge promotion at work. Earlier this year I was an Executive Assistant. Fast forward to October and I became the Director of Philanthropy, a new department at the non-profit I work for.
I started school again. It has taken me too many years to think about, but my Bachelors degree is finally within reach. I completed 2 classes last semester and signed up for 4 in the upcoming semester. This is an area I am determined not to procrastinate any longer. If I can survive the next 3 months, I will have only 4 classes left. I haven’t made a decision yet as to that taking 1 more semester or 2. Either way, 2018 is my year!
I got braces! A step backwards from financial freedom; but, a needed step for my health and well-being. I’ve even found an open niche on the internet. I can’t find a single meal plan for a busy single mom who is a vegetarian and wearing braces. Not sure I am qualified yet to help; but, I will definitely be sharing some of my meal favorites soon.
Finally, I got a new phone. I made the switch from iPhone to Samsung and I am never looking back. Happy to report I now have a functional WordPress app and absolutely no excuse for not being better about my blog. My realistic commitment moving forward is to post monthly updates – at a minimum – in 2018, with more frequent posts happening as my schedule allows.
Speaking of the future, I am attempting to use a planner in 2018. I recently started the Recollections Creative Year for 2018. This busy mom has got to stay organized next year. I’ll share some planning spreads soon too.
I am so happy to leave 2017 behind and can’t wait to start fresh in 2018. My dearest procrastinators: “Every day is an opportunity to start fresh.”
